Trees and the environment

                       Trees and the environment

Plants that grew out of the earth existed before man came into the world.

Hareem's parents were employed. Her niece was close, so she lived in her grandparents' house. At a nearby school, she was in the ninth grade. Hareem's grandparents were educated people. One day they disturbed Hareem. When he saw her, he asked her: "Today you are sitting quietly to one side, what's the matter?"

Nana Abu! Miss taught me about plants.

I am not getting those notices and now I have been asked to write an article about plants. ”Hareem told Nana the whole thing.

"That's all. Come to me after evening tea, I'll explain." Nana reassured him.

In the evening, Hareem came to Nana Abu with a pen and paper and asked: "Nana Abu! What are trees and plants?"

Nana Abu took off his fountain and put the newspaper aside and said: “The trees and plants that grew from the earth existed in the world before man came.

Botanists have discovered that some 600 million years ago, some simple species of plants came out of the water and took root on land. 400 million years ago, the height of plants was not more than 30 cm. It is a living creature. And their bodies, like other living things, are made up of cells.

They grow on their own. Their cells also contain the protoplasm of life. Plants also breathe and prepare their own food. ”

"How do plants breathe, Nana Abu! They don't even have lungs."

Hareem suddenly asked.

"Plants breathe very differently from other animals. They breathe through leaves. Animals need oxygen to survive. They take in oxygen and produce carbon dioxide." While plants absorb carbon dioxide during the day and release oxygen.

That is, plants and animals (including humans) are important to each other. ”

"Nana Abu! Maybe that's why we are told and the government insists that as many trees as possible be planted so that we can get clean oxygen."

Nana Abu said: "Yes, and by taking this oxygen, the trees absorb the carbon dioxide we emit from our lungs.

"How can such a big plant grow from a small seed, Nana Abu! What a surprise, isn't it?" Hareem asked in astonishment.

"This is the power of God, daughter! A seed starts the life of a plant, but this seed is useless until it gets the right amount of water and the necessary heat from the sun."

In addition, seed growth is usually better in the dark. Seeds germinate at their own specific temperatures. That is why winter and summer crops (fruits, vegetables, etc.) are different.

Nana Abu! Miss once said that trees and plants keep the environment clean, that is, they protect from pollution.

Hareem said.

"Yes, in this day and age man is worried about pollution. This is a global problem, but man has created his own. Forests are being cut down fast to get wood and habitat, so there is no oxygen in the air. Due to the shortage, the amount of carbon dioxide is increasing, which is deteriorating the air balance.

The process by which trees produce their food and produce oxygen is called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis means the conversion of sunlight into food and this can only be done by trees and plants. The process requires four things: water, carbon dioxide, sunlight, and the "vegetable" found in trees (so named because of their prominent greenery), also called chlorophyll. Goes

"Nana Abu! Tell me some things that are unique?"

Nana Abu said: "Oh yes, I forgot to tell you interesting and amazing things about plants. Interestingly, trees and plants also react by feeling the temperature of the environment."

They know the weather well. There is a shortage of water in the desert, so some plants absorb and store water. They also have a time-measuring system. Some plants close round by touching the leaves. Some plants catch and eat insects sitting on them.

There are about 40,000 species of trees in the world. ”

Hareem asked: "There will be some trees in the world that are famous for being strange, interesting."

Nana Abu said: “One of the most famous trees is the Eucalyptus of Australia, which is 114 meters high, equivalent to a 38-storey building.

Also, in the US state of California, the trunk of a tree is so wide that a road can be cut in the middle of it. Is old

The lichen trees at the South Pole are about 10,000 years old. ”

Hareem said: "Nana Abu! You have solved this important problem of mine. I have written all these things. It seems that Miss will definitely like my subject in school. Thank you."

Nana Abu put on his glasses to read the newspaper and said: "Definitely inshallah."
